The First Christmas Tree

Happy Friday, ladies!!

It's the last day of school! YAY

I was going to my local Anthro after dropping my daughter at school, but it was raining quite hard, so I just stayed in.

Here are this week's my daughter's lunch!!

Did you know Japanese version of snowman is only two balls??  I told my friends in Japan that a snowman in US has three balls, then my friends said, oh is it because they are tall?? or because they have small heads??
LOL I think Japanese version is cuter, though..

Anyways, where were we..

Oh yeah, the first Christmas Tree!

Yesterday, we finally bought a tree for Christmas.
We weren't going to get it but my daughter found one that she likes at Whole Foods. lol

We've always had parties with big trees at someone else's houses, and my daughter was still little, so we never had a real Christmas tree for our place before.
(Last year, I made a paper tree with my daughter.)

I went to buy ornaments while my daughter was in school and after school, we decorated it together.
It is amazing how it feels so..  comforting when you have a Christmas tree with lights in a house.
I guess we will be doing this every year from now on!!

Statement Necklaces

Good morning, ladies! I hope you are having a wonderful holidays!

Well, it is still dark in California. I am just awake and not be able to fall back asleep, so I want to share some of my creations.

The reason I started to make jewelry.

Although, I've always like to make something, it was when I started my obsession with Anthropologie.
I went into the store for window shopping one day, and saw some gorgeous statement necklaces.

I really wanted to buy one, but I could not afford it. Now I think back, I do not remember what it was, but it was probably over $100 or even $300.

I thought, maybe.. I can make one just like that??

Then I made this from a vintage silk scarf my mother gave me.

And I wore it to a family party in 2010.
People loved it and said I should open a store.

My daughter was still 2 then, and I did not have much time, but once I get into something, I just had to do it.
I can't sleep when I have something in my mind.

I was into vintage buttons and fabric and I liked the idea of recycling good fabric.
Like.. a dress that has a stain on it and can no longer wear.
Sometimes I used a liner attached to a dress.  The dress itself was not pretty enough to keep but the liner was so soft and nice (silk) and it's so sad to throw away.

Silk was the best fabric to make a statement necklace because it is soft and has rich taste in it.

This was another silk piece I made out of a vintage silk liner. This was made to order piece and I no longer have it with me.

Last night, I tried on the ones I have kept for myself with Anthro dresses!

This was made out of a champagne sateen blouse and brown sateen pants. All buttons are vintage.
It's available on my Etsy store TanPoPo for clearance price!

This mustard colored necklace was made out of brand new fabric. I was into mustard color this time. Used small vintage pearl buttons.
I wore a long pearl necklace with it to take this photo. :)

This was another statement necklace I made out of the first silk scarf. Wearing a long pearl necklace with it.

I think, this is my second favorite necklace that I made. I love the color purple and deep red.
Used two different sizes of vintage pearl buttons and put a rose in the center. SOLD

These are all one of a kind.
I do not make these statement necklaces anymore because it takes a lot of time and my daughter keeps me busy all day.
I need to sleep when I can. lol Maybe one day in the future..

I decided to let go these precious necklaces if anyone wants it for your parties.

Please leave comment here, message on Etsy, or email me keiko.week@gmail.com
I will send you additional photos and discuss the price!

Have a wonderful day!!
I found out that my local store opens at 9AM today. I might go check out more things for Christmas presents!

Review Part 4!!!!!

Here I am!! More reviews!
Don't miss the other reviews@@@
Review Part 1
Review Part 2
Review Part 3

I hope this is helping some people out there..

Notched Dots Cord Dress  I am wearing size 2. TTS for me.
The waist was tight fit, so if you prefer some room there, recommend sizing up.
I love love looooooooooooove this dress!!  I normally don't like corduroy but this is an exception for me. I love the tight fit around waist. Washable! Must have!

Inkwash Tie-Dye Shift  I am wearing size 0 because they didn't have size 2. Fits TTS, I'd buy size 2!
This is another Must have for me. So soft, comfortable, and washable!!
Side zipper. lined!

Plaited Cable Hooded Sweater  I am wearing S, TTS.
This was one of the tops I was hoping to get with sale + extra 25%.
It was sold out online last night, so I was hoping to get it at the store. It's soft, comfy, and cute!!

Blomma Cross-Stitched Skirt  I tried on size 2. I could size down but for comfortable fit, I'd buy size 2 for me. TTS
This is cute skirt that matches with Plaited Cable Hooded Sweater!!
I wasn't thinking when I tried it on, but isn't it cute together??
It's a bit Christmas-y? I told myself I don't need any more tight skirt, but this may join in my closet..
It's not too tight though. It's between tight and A-line?

Flat Ribbon Top   Thank you Wendy for finding the name!!
It was marked down to $29.95 from $118. Brand is Line Knitwear.
I tried it on and it felt good, so I brought it home. Love the color too!
It's a bit see through, I will need a tank or slip underneath, but it's so soft! It's silk/ Dry Clean Only but I would take the risk and wash it when I wear!!

Gemma Peasant Blouse  I am wearing size S, fits TTS.
When this came out, I tried it on at the store and loved it.
I love the color, but this kinda reminds me of clothing in Japan.
It went on sale yesterday but only went $20 cheaper. (I mean, it's great but.. you know what I mean.)
My size sold out online this morning, so I might get it at the store on BF, but still thinking..

Sketch-Back Shirt  On the top photos, I am wearing S, and bottom, I am wearing M. I bought M.
This was unexpected purchase.
For some reason, horse prints attract me now..
The fabric in the back doesn't stretch, so when I tried on my regular size S, back of my arm was pulling a little, so I went up for more comfortable fit.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Review Part 3!!!

Happy Thanksgiving ladies! Is everyone busy cooking today??

So, it was a nice surprise we had yesterday. A LOT of items went on sale and extra 25%off!!
Some of the items that I was going to buy didn't get regular cut (50%off), so I was really careful which one to purchase.

Here are my online purchases!! (The brown boots are The North Face Camryn Boots. My husband bought me these yesterday. )

Most of the new clothing markdowns only got 25%off or something, so even with extra 25%off, it's just a regular sale price, so I didn't go crazy about it.

In the morning, I went to my local Anthropologie to see if there are anything good, and also wanted to try some new items.

Anthro is offering 20%off Full priced items on Black Friday, instead of last year's extra 50%off sale price (boo!), I'd share this review today!! I was reeeeeeeeeeally hoping they'd have extra 50%off, though! =(

Plaid Refresh Coat  I am trying my regular size 2, fits TTS for me. Tracy Reese's another beautiful coat!! I love the pattern, but not big fan of the turtle neck part. I was wondering how it is inside the coat when I saw it on hanger, so here it is! It's kind of weird..
I think I am not supposed to zip all the way up, because it came up really high. lol
It's really warm winter coat. I don't think I need this one living in CA but maybe in Japan??

Judith Collar Coat  I am wearing size 2, I'd size up if I buy this.. Underarm was so tight and couldn't move my arms!
Loved it on hanger, but not on me. Kind of thick too. Maybe I'll try bigger size next time!

Kajsa Sweatercoat I am wearing my regular size S. Supposedly TTS?
Maybe it's the style but feels little boxy and wide around arm.
To me, it wasn't that attractive. I see these kind of style around in Japan, not that unique to me.

Snoa Motocardi  I am wearing size M since they didn't have S.
Size M fit fine but I think it's TTS. I'd prefer a snag fit for this one.
This was really soft and comfy. I wish it was washable!! Maybe it's worth getting this piece with 20%off!

Lace-Trimmed Marled Cardigan I couldn't find this cardigan online. Can you?? I am wearing regular size, S or 2. (Sorry, can't remember..) Fits TTS.
I think, if you wear it right, it's really pretty sweater. I am wearing over my long sleeve dress and it doesn't look good on it. lol
The lace was more of a dark beige than it appears on the photo.

Ridged Ruffles Cardigan I am wearing my regular size S, fits TTS.
This is already second cut price but still available online.
I think if I wasn't wearing long sleeve underneath, that'd look better.
The front button isn't center, and it looked little awkward in the fitting room but I guess it was because of the ruffle?
I'd buy it if I didn't have many ruffled cardigans already!
